Tour Ireland
Buddy & Mike!

As most of you know, Mike Lindauer (my trusty bassist and singing partner) and I have been traveling to Ireland for over twenty years now. I’ve completely fallen in love with the beauty of the place - the nature, the music and especially the people! And every time I announce the tour I always get a bunch of e-mails back saying things like, “Need a roadie?” or “Wow, I’ve always wanted to go. Got any room left in your suitcase?” I’m happy to say that this time you can come with us!

The dates are July 9-18, 2017.

We’re very happy to be working with my old friend Johnsmith and
Inishfree Tours. John and his wife Jo have organized scores of these and they really know what they're doing. This is a group tour for people who hate group tours! Part of the charm of Inishfree tours is that they are small. The coach only seats 24 so you won’t feel like you’re just part of the herd. And John has found some great places for us to stay, small hotels in coastal villages where we can all be together without getting lost in the crowd. Another nice feature of the tour is that we’ll stay for three days each in three different places, taking day trips from there to see the sights or learn about Irish culture and history. You can settle in and get to know each area without having to pack up all your stuff for another long drive every day. And at night we’ll be treated to some of the very best traditional and contemporary Irish musicians. Wow, these folks are good - be ready to see what it feels like when your ears smile! Of course, Mike and I will do some playing for you too.

Where will we go?

Our trip will take us to three counties in the West of Ireland, Mayo, Galway and Clare where you’ll find some of the most spectacular landscapes and coastal vistas anywhere. On the first day we’ll gather in Bunratty (not far from Shannon Airport) and then drive up to Westport in County Mayo. We’ll spend the next three nights there (with a visit to beautiful Achille Island) and then, on day four, we’ll travel down to Clifden, the heart of the Connemara region of County Galway. On day seven we’ll head up to the little town of Ennistymon in County Clare. Whlie there, we'll visit the Burren which is a geological landscape unlike anywhere else. Nearby Doolin also happens to be the location of two pubs that are famous for having some of the best traditional music sessions in all of Ireland! Along the way we’ll visit ancient stone circles, castles and ruins, museums about Irish culture and history, maybe a ferry ride or two and...did I mention the music

Fantastic! What does all this cost?
The cost of all this is $2350 per person based on double occupancy. For a single it’ll be $2850 but these are limited in number. If you’re traveling alone we’d be happy to try and  pair you up with another intrepid solo traveler and save you both some dough! For this you get nine nights of accommodation, all travel on our coach, ferry tickets, museum entrance fees, concerts, breakfast every morning and three group evening meals. You’ll be responsible for getting yourself to Ireland and I’ll be happy to give you some tips on getting the best airfare when the time comes (don’t buy too far ahead for example). I also strongly recommend that you plan on arriving the day before the first day of the tour so you can rest up from the flight (which is usually an overnight). We can arrange for a taxi and a nice B&B for you in Bunratty the night before that shouldn’t be too expensive.

Great! I’m in! How do I reserve my spot?
Just write to me here with the name, address, phone number and e-mail address of everyone in your group. I’ll have John and his wife Jo at Inishfree Tours send you an invoice and walk you through the process. It’ll take an initial payment of $800 to reserve your spot. Then, $775 will be due six months out and the remaining amount three months in advance of the tour. Or, of course, you can just take care of the whole thing at the beginning if you like too.

Remember, there will only be 24 of us or so (including me and Mike) so don’t wait too long. These trips tend to sell out early!

Need more info? Just drop me an e-mail and I'll be happy to answer whatever questions you might have. You can also write to Barb at Inishfree Tours and she'll be happy to  help you.
Slainte (that means Cheers!),
