Tunetown & Touring

Buddy Mondlock at City Winery Nashville

Ever since I got to Nashville Douglas Corner Cafe was always one of my favorite places to play a show - here or anywhere! The sound was always great and the warm funky vibe too. Mervyn made everybody feel welcome and the music was eclectic but the standards were high. I played a show there on Saturday March 13, 2020. On Monday March 15 everything shut down. I guess Mervyn figured he'd put his years in and now was as good a time as any to retire. Douglas Corner never reopened. I sure don't begrudge Mervyn kicking his feet up for a change but a lot of us have had a hard time finding a regular place to play here in town since then.

So I'm really looking forward to next Saturday March 2, 2024 when I'll be at City Winery Nashville, upstairs in the lounge. I've seen lots of great music there since they opened but this'll be my first time on the stage. Hoping to see a bunch of my Nashville pals there! One of my oldest friends here, Jim Moran, will be opening the show. He's a great songwriter who also wrote many of the arrangements for the Randy Newman Guitar Songbook. Think of Randy's songs on piano and translating all that to guitar. That'll tell you something about Jim's playing, right there! I'll also have my touring buddy Mike Lindauer with me on the stage playing his fluid fretless bass and singing the high harmonies. Talk about old friends - Mike and I met in 5th grade. I'll let him tell you where. This is gonna be fun.

For the next show the commute changes from 12 minutes to 12 hours. Well worth it though. I'll be heading to Anderson Fair in Houston Friday March 8 and then a concert at Harmony House in Bonham, TX on Sunday March 10. Then a little more driving to Richmond, KY for Pickin' On the Vines at Chennault Vineyards on Saturday March 16. It's a new songwriter series hosted by the wonderful Nic Cassetta.

I sure am grateful for all of you, by the way. I am living my dream life, thanks to you.

Love to All!

Buddy Mondlock
